When a house is built it must be built on a strong foundation correct? If a house is not built on a foundation first, it cannot stand. I have never seen a house that has been built without a foundation first. That goes for any house or building. It must first have a foundation or it will not stand. My question to you is what are you standing on? Is what you are standing on solid? There are many times I have to do what I like to call an “Andre Check” and ask myself the same thing. I love this parable that Jesus gave in Luke

“Everyone who comes to me and hears my words and does them, I will show you what he is like: he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when a flood arose, the stream broke against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built. But the one who hears and does not do them is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. When the stream broke against it, immediately it fell, and the ruin of that house was great.” (Luke 6:47-49 ESV)

Okay don’t you just love how Jesus uses such great illustrations when trying to talk to us. I love it! All Jesus was telling us in this passage of scripture is that the Word of God is your foundation. It’s the only foundation that stays the same and never changes. I can tell you one thing, I use to build my foundation on my emotions/feelings. Good Lord, I felt like I was riding on a roller coaster when I did that. One moment I’m happy, one moment I’m sad. I was going up and down. I even think I went around the loop a couple of times like the roller coasters have. I learned quickly that I could not build my foundation on my emotions/feelings because it was an unstable and faulty foundation. But praise God, God’s Word is forever unchangeable, and unmovable. There is a song we use to sing at my church back in the 90’s that said, “ You’re the solid rock on which I stand.” I have to sing that to myself every now and then when I can feel myself trying to go stand on something else besides God’s Word. His Word should be the base and foundation for everything we do in our lives. If you’re facing a trial, or if you need healing in any area of your life, or whatever the case maybe, I want to encourage you to go to God’s Word and get some scriptures to stand on. I promise you God’s Word never changes, it always remains the same. Don’t ride the “Emotion Coaster” ride the “Word Coaster.” Okay, I know that sounded a little cheesy, but you get my point. I want to encourage you to stand strong and to always stand on the Word in anything you do.
